Cirque de Spider

Weaving Together Creativity & Community

This Saturday, July 18th, the circus is in town, not the overblown commercial, animal-taming kind of circus, but the original circus: the ancient, radical, experimenting, healing, transforming kind of circus – circus as the art of communityCirque de Spider is the culmination and celebration of two weeks of partnership in whole-bodied transformational education, focused on a fusion of two ancient body-mind disciplines: yoga and circus arts.

This special event will feature a 7 PM performance by the OMFLY circus troupe – the program’s teachers, including OMFLY Director Jen Taylor, Melissa Cokas, Dani Bobbi Lee and Martine Persico, together with fifteen students of the OMFLY circus yoga summer program. Circus activities begin at 4 PM with fun and gameshooping, dancing (with fire-dancing and bonfire after dark)a dunking booth (bring your bathing suit), and potluck style community dinner, and a hoop yoga dance jam after-party with insane live dance jams by the Ninjas of Cheyenne. This is is serious fun across generations, and radically inclusive. The circus is a celebration of community unity within creative diversity, so come join us!

The event takes place in the Sanctuary’s beautiful meadow, part of the 40 acre land trust where Cirque de Spider is held, plenty of space to picnic and explore. Guests are invited to come early to enjoy the peace that sacred space allows.
