So, like children, we begin again
to learn from the things…
This is what the things can teach us:
to fall,
patiently to trust our heaviness.
Even a bird has to do that
before s/he can fly.”

-Rainer Maria Rilke

play: to pay attention   (oldest definition of play/O.E.D.)

OmFly Circus School offers circus and aerial arts classes in Old Saybrook, CT, for children and adults ages 7 to 99.  In the summer, the school offers  circus camps in the beautiful outdoors at the Sanctuary in East Haddam.

Circus arts include Trapeze, Silks, Aerial Yoga, Lyra, Acro Yoga, Partner Acrobatics and Object Manipulation (Juggling, Hooping, Diabolo, Devil Sticks & Poi).

OmFly uses an innovative approach to teaching the art of body movement. Focusing on the six directions of the spine & combining the ancient traditions of circus and yoga, OmFly classes help build core strength, confidence, and maintain a healthy spine. Benefits of inversions (being upside down) include increased calm, concentration, circulation, as well as the decompression of the spine and mood enhancement.

Circus and yoga arts increase body awareness and help you to instantly attain a true presence in the moment that can take months of meditation to achieve.

jen taylor

Founder and artistic director Jen Taylor has been teaching and directing circus arts and yoga for 9 years. She has a degree in Philosophy and studied engaged Buddhism with peace activist Thich Nhat Hahn.  She believes in the power of circus arts and yoga as a kind of re-wilding medicine for domesticated times.

When we are in our bodies, we connect with self. When we connect with self, we connect with others. When we connect with others, we connect with the larger world and true healing begins.  Taylor studied aerials with LAVA, and circus with Circus Minimus & Circus Yoga.

dani bobbi lee

Dani Bobbi Lee is a hoop dancer, acro yogi and licensed massage therapist.  She discovered the magic of yoga, and found a community of circus folk to play with at OmFly over 5 years ago.  A natural teacher, she is a circus play lover with a passion for sharing and learning with others.

Practice, patience, play and freedom from judgment are the foundations for her teaching methods.  Her philosophy is celebration of collaboration. Running away to join the circus was a dream come true for her. During her circus years, she has picked up a few new skills: poi, trapeze, silks, human pyramid building and learning how to co-create with a group. She aspires to continue to move with freedom and high spirits and to inspire and continue to be inspired.
